In September 2018, Curtis Jones and other City Council members voted to erect a street sign honoring former Mayor Wilson Goode. Goode is responsible for the murder of 11 members of the MOVE family, including 5 children in 1985. Community members were not consulted about the street sign, and their protests were ignored.

Free people will never accept monuments to their oppressors. The street sign honoring Wilson Goode is a flagrant symbol of state violence against Black Philadelphia. We demand that the street be reverted to its original name.

Please join us Sunday July 19, 2020 at 2:00pm. We will gather at the street sign located at the corner of 59th Street and Overbrook Avenue in Wynnefield. Please wear a mask. If possible, bring a sign.

*This location is accessible via 65 and G bus, 10 trolley (3 block walk) and the Overbrook stop on the Paoli/Thorndale regional rail line (2 block walk).
