The Pennsylvania eviction moratorium ends August 31st, putting thousands of Philadelphians at risk of losing housing. Some renters have received accommodations allowing them to make payments at a later date due to a rise in unemployment from the pandemic, but the financial burden of rent back pay will threaten many with eviction in the future. We are calling on the city of Philadelphia to allocate a portion of its vast resources toward ensuring that no tenant or mortgagor is evicted, and every individual is housed.
Our demands are as follows:
- Extend the eviction moratorium through the pandemic.
- Cancel rents and mortgages through the pandemic.
- Cancel the rent and mortgage debt.
- House all unhoused Philadelphians
